WORLD MUSIC FUSION

Pour la septiéme édition consécutive, le Festival d’été francophone de Vancouver poursuit son

volet de résidence artistique. Ce projet alliant et mélant les talents du Québec et de la Colombie-

Britannique est devenu au fil des ans un incubateur musical et créatif acclamé par le public. Cette

année, ce projet évolue, et pas moins de 4 artistes issus de formations diverses de musique du monde,
puisant aussi bien dans des sonorités contemporaines ou enracinées dans la culture d'origine de certains pays
dAfrique, se réuniront afin de méler leurs répertoires et de créer de nouveaux sons : LAM (Sénégal / Montréal),
Joe Amouzou (Togo / C.-B.), Jacky Essombé (Cameroun / C.-B.), Yoro Noukoussi (Bénin / C.-B.) sans oublier le
DJ Marc Fournier (Canada / C.-B.) qui viendra ajouter une touche électronique a cette rencontre musicale. La
résidence artistique se déroulera les 21 et 22 juin, et sera suivie par quatre représentations gratuites et inédites
les 23, 24 et 27 juin.

enthusiastic acclaim from our audiences. This year, the project will be given a new scope, with no fewer
than four artists from different world music groups: ILAM (Senegal / Montreal), Joe Amouzou (Togo / B.C.), Jacky
Essombé (Cameroon /B.C.), Yoro Noukoussi (Benin / B.C.) and the DJ Marc Fournier (Canada /B.C.) who will add an
electronic touch to this musical encounter. Drawing on contemporary sounds as well as the rich cultural traditions
of their African countries of origin, they will blend their repertoires and create new ones. The artists in residence
program will take place on June 21% and 22"4, and will be followed by four free public performances in world
premiere on June 23", 24" and 27".

Révélation Radio-Canada 2016-2017, ILAM propose un style bien particulier a la fois épicé et empreint de
sensibilité, alliant un mélange de rythmiques reggae aux inclinaisons de blues, d’afro-folk, tout en y métissant
des accents de la pop et du rock. Sa voix évoque la profondeur et la puissance des peuples nomades dans une
ambiance envottante et urbaine.

Radio-Canada’s World Music Revelation 2016 -2017, ILAM delivers a style of music filled with different musical
spices and a great portion of sensitivity. Combining a rhythmic blend of reggae and blues with inclinations of
Afro-folk, crossbreeding accents of pop or rock, his voice evokes the depth and power of nomadic people in a
mesmerizing and urban atmosphere.
