Wheeler,Acting Parks & Recreation Director SUBJECT: Figure Skating Proposal to Install 4 Spotlights (Sept. 13, 1990 Meeting of Parks & Recreation Committee) Summary: The Port Coquitlam Figure Skating Club has proposed to purchase and install four spotlights in the Old Arena. These lights would be made available to other users. Staff have reviewed the Proposal and although they’re very Supportive of it, feel that upon installation, the equipment should be tumed over to the City. The equipment must also be placed in mutually agreeable locations not easily accessed by the public, Parpose/Problem: The purpose of this report is to provide information and a recommendation for consideration by the Parks and Recreation Committee regarding a proposal received rom the Port Coquitlam Figure Skating Club to purchase and install four spotlights in the old arena. History/Background: Several times each year spotlights are rented for major events being held in the Old Arena (ie. May Da: , Figure Skating Carnival, Bantam Tournament, etc.). The Port Coquitlam Figure Skating Club is proposing to purchase and install four spotlights for use in the Old Arena. Analysis of Proposal: The Port Coquitlam Figure Skating Club is proposing to carry all responsibility related to the purchase and installation of four large spotlights. They are also committing themselves to making the lights available to other community groups using this facility. The benefit of having easy access to this kind of equipment will no doubt play an important role in the continued growth of numerous high profile events.
