December 14, 1987 /313 A regular meeting of the Municipal Council! of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the "Campbel| Room", Best Western Poco Motor Inn, 1545 Lougheed Highway, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on Monday, December 14th, 1987, at 7:30 p.m His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay, Aldermen M.C. Farnworth, J.J. Keryluk, GeRe Laking, WeWe Stewart and R. Talbot in attendance. Also in attendance were City Administrator B.R. Kirk, City Treasurer J.G. Maittand, City Engineer F.E. Peters and Secretary S. Rauh. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Stewart: That the minutes of the Regular Counci| Meeting held on November 30th, 1987 and the Inaugural Meeting of December 7th, 1987, be taken as read and adopted. Carried. DELEGATIONS: PO/01/87/ 12/14/01 His Worship Mayor L.«M. Traboulay introduced Mr. Les~Keen, Chairman of the Crime Prevention Committee and Inspector Bob Fenske, ReC.MeP. Mr. Le Keen then gave a status report on the work of the Committee. NP/02/87/ 12/14/02 His Worship Mayor L.M. Traboulay introduced Mr. Burt Ogdon of the United Fishermen and Allied Workers Union who then spoke regarding the recent panel ruling of the General Agreement on Tariff and Trade, which charges Canada with unfair processing practices on raw herring, sockeye and pink salmon. Mr. Ogdon asked Council to support their opposition to this ruling as there are many residents in the community who would be directly affected. Moved by Alderman Gates: Seconded by Alderman Farnworth: WHEREAS the recent GATT ruling could result in the destruction of 4,000 fishing industry jobs because raw fish will be exported to the United States and other countries; and WHEREAS the ruling strikes at the very heart of the rights of sovereign nations to control the use of raw materials within its borders; and
