SUBJECT; Parking for Lighthouse Restaurant -
Committee May 5, 1987

Recommendation

That the City parking lot west of the Lighthouse
Restaurant be changed from two hour to three hour duration
parking.

Background and Comments:

Last year the City changed some of the parking stalls on
Donald Street from two hour to three hour parking in order to
Provide more time for customers of the restaurant. This
apparently has not provided sufficient Parking space and some
customers are sti} getting tickets when they park fin the City

parking lot.

The parking allocation map showing Parking within, the

downtown will be posted on the board in the Council Chambers,
You will note that the main streets in the downtown have mostly
one hour parking. The remainder of the streets have either two
hour, six hour, or unlimited parking. The other parking lots
are either two hour or three hour parking. One three hour
parking lot is at the northside of the town. The Committee
feels that it would be appropriate to have another one at the
southside of the City center so that those shoppers who need to
spend more time in the City have a place to park without having
to move their car. The parking lot across from the Lighthouse
would be appropriate for this purpose and would also provide

for the needs of the restaurant customers.
