THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM . OCT 15 1984 TO: B. Kirk, October 4, 1984 City Administrator : FROM: F.E. Peters., P. Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: No Stopping near Underpass - Works and Services Committee, October 2nd, 1984 RECOMMENDATION: That the yeltow line on the west side of Shaughnessy Street north of Elgin Avenue be extended to the underpass to eliminate the parking space in front of Haida Office Supplies. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: Prior to construction of the Legion building, there was a roadway between Kingsway and Shaughnessy which prevented any on-street parking in this area. Construction of the landscaping has now left one space between the yellow curb and the underpass which could be used for parking. it is the opinion of the Works and Services Committee that the use of this space for parking would be undesirable because of the difficulty of maneuvering a vehicle into it due to the proximity of the underpass and because more pedestrians now use the walkway and would be screened oan the crosswalk by a vehicle parked in this location. The Committee therefore wishes to extend the yellow curb to make this whole area a No Stopping zone and eliminate the potentiali.of conflicts. F.E. Petafs, P. Eng., —City Engineer FEP/sgg R56
