Freeman, City Clerk, The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlan, 2272 McAllister Avenue, PORT COQUITLAM, B.C. Dear Mr. Freeman: Re: Mosquito Control - Research Oriented Programmes thank you for your letter dated December 11, 1972 and my department has made some investigations into the problem of mosquito control as outlined by your Vector Control Officer, Mr. R.J. Palmer. it would appear that there is research work being done in this field by the Federal Department of Agriculture at their Lethoridge Laboratory. In the past year, meetings nave been held in several centres (University of Alberta - May 1972; National Work Planning Meeting on Biting Flies and Their Control - in Saskatoon, November 1972) in order to discuss the problems. I under- stand a report of the Saskatoon meeting will be released in a few weeks and no doubt Mr. Palmer will be receiving a copy of this as you have already been in communication with the Federal Department of Agriculture. Trusting the information contained in the above report will give us cause to hope that the biting fly probiems will be controlled or alleviated in the near future, and with kindest regards, Yours very truly, Live Dennis Cocke, Minister
