In ‘semi-final action, Thornhill took out Prince Rupert’s Booth 15-10, 15-11, while Kitimat knocked off Terrace Skeena 15-8, 15-13. The playoff for third and fourth saw Booth beat Skeena 15-5, 15-10. Bulkley Valley defeated Kitwanga 15-4, 15-3 in the battle for consolation champs. Thornhill’s Bruce Neid won the most valuable player award, while the sportsmanlike team trophy went to Thornhill. All-stars named were Kevin Hamakawa and Ben Foote of Thornhill, Brian Piewek of Skeena, Billy Chan of Booth, and Remo Bussoli and Frank Verde of Kitimat. Kitimat Orcas won the girls’s side by downing Skeena 15-2, 15-12 in the final. In semi-final action, Kitimat defeated Booth 9-15, 15-11, 15-3, while Skeena took Thornhill by default due to Booth deciding to leave early. Kitimat’s Nancy Stikis won the most valuable player trophy. Kermodes won the title last Friday in a two-team, best-of-five playoff against Prince Rupert. Kitimat failed to floor a team this season due to several reasons. About 100 fans turned out: to see Kermodes win the first game 15-5. But Rupert came back to grab game two 16-14, Kermodes then won the next two games 15-12, 15-11 to clinch the title and a trip to the interior.
