Eng., FILE: 1600.5 City Engineer SUBJECT: 1993 CAPITAL PROJECT - STEEL PLATFORMS AT DOMINION PUMP STATION (PWC MEETING OF JULY 27, 1993) RECOMMENDATION: 1) That Ccuncil approve the installation of steel platforms and safety rails at the Dominion Pump Station at an estimated cost of $6,000. 2) That $6,000 be allocated from the 1993 Public Works Special Capital Reserve for this purpose. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: It is proposed to upgrade the Dominion Pump Station by installing a working platform and safety rails within the Dominion Pump Station as shown on Plans | & 2 at an estimated cost of $6,000. At present the pump station chamber is from 1/3 to 2/3 full of water at all times. In order to pull the storm sewer pumps for regular maintenance, divers have to be hired to pull the pumps at a present cost of $1,600 per year. The construction of a working platform within the pump station chamber would allow City crews to maintain the pumps on a scheduled and emergency basis. This work is scheduled to be done in early December. LR. z,P.
