TO: Alderman Ranger October li, FROM: L.D. Pollock, City Administrator You asked me to obtain information on the cost of vandalism in the City. We do not have a breakdown in any great detail, however, the Tollowing may suffice. 1. Street Signs - In the past year the cost of vandalism in connection with. all types of street signs, which includes the street naming signs, stop signs, other traffic markers, amounts to approximately $4160.00. 2. Parks and Recreation Facilities - We do not have a breakdown of the cost of damage item by item, however, the costs to date in 1974 amount to $4126.00 and this includes damage to recreation facilities for example, broken windows, damaged toilet facilities, damage to playground equipment, etc. In 1973 the total for the year was $3762.00. If you want an idea of any specific area of vandalism perhaps Won Kim or George Ulmer can give me an estimate of the specific damage in any particular area.
