RE: Tree Cutting By-law

The Environmental Sub Committee has: drafted a’by-law to regulate the cutting of
trees in the City under the new provisions of the Municipal Act. Council will
recall that the City was instrumental in bringing about the change in legislation
through resolutions to the U.B.C.M. and contact with the Minister and the Department
of Municipal Affairs.

A draft of this by-law has been circutated to all members of Council and the City
Solicitor has reviewed the by-law. The Solicitor is recommending some minor wording
changes in the by-law and these will be available for Monday night meeting for
discussion.
