Tar ee ent te matt cn once ora ei atte ete GENERAL COMMENTS ON LOCAL CRIMINAL AND DRUG ACTIVITIES: During the month of April 14 people have been charged with various offences under the Narcotic Control Act and this mainly involved the use of hash, marihuana, and MDA. The drug situation was much more improved, with a definite shortage of heroin in the area, although we understand morphine was quite readily available. . During the month two separate groups that we were aware Of have been quite active in offences involving the thefts of televisions and stereo equipment, particularly aroung the new apartments in the Conuitl-m arca. Investigatcens into the rash of burglaries have resulted in two groups of youths being dealt with and a total of approximately 40 burglaries cleared up. We had one armed robbery during the month and that occurred at the 711 Store in Coquitlam. Investigation to date has not resulted in the culprit being apprehended but investigation is being continued. During the month there were three bad incidents occurring involving huge congre- gations of youths, one such incident took place in Port Moody wherein assistance was given to that Force, and the two others occurred in the Coquitlam area, During one such affray one of our members was viciously assaulted, and in another approximately 13 persons were arrested for several varied offences. / S/Insp.
