Lights shine this season Pathway, bridge and park to get that festive treatment CHRISTMAS LIGHTS are beginning to twinkle in the community and that means it’s time for the annual Christmas lights decorating contest. There are four categories this year ~ best home, best effort, best apartment/mobile and best commercial. The contest is sponsored by The Terrace Standard in conjunction with the B..C. Northern Real Estate Board and the Terrace Beautification Society and local busi- nesses. Winners will receive plaques and an acknowledgment in The Terrace Standard. The annual campaign, now in its 16th year, is the CDC’s biggst fundraiser of the year. Donations support the centre’s programs for special needs children, including therapy, education and support. The Public Dreams Committee was oul last weekend with the help of volunteers to install the lights. This weekend the committee and workers will put up a sign signifying the 75th birthday of the city, The bridge was built in 1925 and the city’s birthday is 1927. An official lighting up tentatively planned for the Dec. 14-15 weekend, says committee member Arlene Herman. “We want to create a bright light for these hard times,” she said. “It’s something for everybody to enjoy.” The bridge was closed to traffic this past Sunday so workers could safely install the lights.
