Ad Terrace Review — Wednesday, November 21, 1990 $2 million civil suit trail concludes The two-week trial of a civil suit seeking $2 million damages against five Terrace men has con- cluded. The action arose after Bradley Harrison, a Terrace resi- dent and 29 years old at the time of the incident, was severely injured at the conclusion of a stag party held in his honour April 2, 1988. Hartison’s Vancouver John Laxton said Monday he’s hoping for a judgment before Christmas but noted that will depend on how busy Justice Ronald McKinnon is during the next few weeks. Named in the suit as defendants were Terrace residents Raymond Glenn Biggs, Rene Cam, Norman Collier, Ronald Gowe and Darren: Rouw. It was alleged by Harrison that the five men concocted a ruse with the assistance of a uniformed Terrace RCMP officer, Cst. Gene Olson, to lure him to a stag party the week before his scheduled wedding. Harrison was shackled with a traditional “ball and chain" —— actually a 40-pound sump pump packed into a metal cylinder on the end of a chain — and taken to a party at Gowe’s home. Laxton claimed in court that his client was a reluctant participant in ‘the celebration, and left the party at the Skeena Hotel, claiming he had to use the washroom and left surreptitiously by the back door. The group caught up with him on Lakelse Ave. in front of the Salva- tion Army thrift shop. During a struggle Harrison fell through the front window of the shop. The falling plate glass nearly severed both his arms. He was flown to Vancouver, where a team of sur- geons managed to save his arms from amputation, but there was permanent damage to the muscles and nerves. Harrison’s fiance Blanche Olson cancelled their wedding plans, and he was no longer able to continue his job at Eurocan Pulp and Paper in Kitimat. Laxton said he expects the defen- dants’ home owner insurance to cover the damages if his client wins the case. It’s a little-known fact, he said, that most home owner insurance policies cover the policy holder for actions away from the insured property. ean ms ev ate | Dave Parker |M.L.A. for Skeena lawyer | "0" Payments "0" Interest Ford Invites You To "0" Down Payment "FOR 90 DAYS (Ford Pays Interest For 90 Days OAC) ——————————— PLUS!!! up to $700 Cash Back on Selected Models — Financing and Lease Rates as Low as 8.9% or up to $1000 Cash OR ~-__ Back from Ford on Selected Models _ TERRACE ™ We listen Cop te "Take A Break" — | L-635-4215 AAAAAA DAAALAALAMAAABAAASA BARBARA KETTYLS Hoipay Quiche SQUARES elicious and full of flavour, the D combination of ingredients makes this appetizer look as colourful as a brightly lit Christmas tree. of A big hit with the Kettyls & "d clan, the pastry is tender eS and flaky and the filling is rich, smooth and creamy.
