INTERDEPARTMENTAL COOPERATION 13 Working With the Federal Institutions to Raise Awareness Year after year, the Fédération des francophones de la Colombie-Britannique (FFCB) meets with officials of federal institutions to increase their awareness of the realities and needs of the province’s Francophone community. This year, the FFCB had several meetings with federal officials: 1. The Coordinator of Interdepartmental Cooperation attended meetings for the BC Interdepartmental Network of Official Languages Coordinators (INOLC). The meetings dealt primarily with the presentation of issues and results sought by the Francophone community. 2. The FFCB attended meetings of the Pacific Federal Council Official Languages Committee (PFCOLC). At one of these meetings, on October 14, 2010, the President, Dr. Réal Roy, and the Executive Director, Ms. Christine Sotteau, were invited to present a portrait of the Francophone community, its issues and the 2009-2014 Global Development Plan (GDP). They also requested support from the PFC in carrying out major future projects and in linking the various departments and agencies to the community's strategic results. 3. The FFCB and PFCOLC organized a forum on Francophone immigration and economic development. More than fifty participants from departments and community organizations painted a portrait of the status of immigration. They presented a socio demographic profile of the community, explained the role of federal and provincial governments, presented the Connection Centre for Francophone Immigrants (CCFI), and closed with a round table on immigration and economic integration. 4. The FFCB promoted the GDP among several involved partners. The GDP was presented to the Part IV, V, VI and VII official language coordinators, members of the FFCB, staff at the Conseil scolaire francophone de la C.-B., staff at the Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs at Simon Fraser University, and officials from the federal and provincial governments, national organizations and the Quebec government. Comparative Table The 2009-2014 Global Development Plan (GDP): The plan was finalized and distributed to members of the Francophone community at an annual general meeting of the FFCB in June 2010. This plan attests to the vitality of British Columbia's Francophone community and contains the vision and results identified by the members for the next five years.
