From the Planning and Zoning Committee, June 5th, 1978 recommending that the application for a land use contract to develop a Motel/Restaurant complex on Lot 73, Block 4, District Lot 480, Plan 20844 known as 1545 Lougheed Highway proceed te Public Hearing. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: That as recommended by the Planning and Zoning Committee, June 5th, 1978 Application R#6-78 for a Land Use Contract to develop a Motel/ Restaurant complex on Lot 73, Block 4, District Lot 480, Plan 20844 known as 1545 Lougheed Highway, proceed to Public Hearing. Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution the Planning Officer gave a brief explanation of the proposed development. Alderman Traboulay asked for clarification of the role of the frontage road and the Planning Officer advised the road would be for access off Coast Meridian Road and traffic would not go through to the residential area on Angelo Avenue. Alderman Mabbett inquired regarding responsibility for the maintenance of the access road and was advised it would be considered a City road. Alderman Ranger advised the road allowances remaining in the area should be referred to the Land Sales Committee so they could be officially closed so future development of a road to Angelo Avenue would not be possible. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the proposed road closures in the vicinity of the 1600 Block Angelo Avenue be referred to the Land Sales Committee. Carried. From the Public Works Committee, June 9th, 1978 advising of a request for a 4-way STOP sign at the intersection of Coquitlam Avenue and Oxford Street. Discussion then ensued on the accident rate for 1977 and thus far in 1978 and the Committee recommenation that a traffic count be obtained to allow further study to be done.
