THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM B.R. Kirk, © 4, 1990 City Administrator D.G. Riecken, Deputy City Engineer B.C. Tel Works at Fire Hall Alarm Panel (Public Works Committee Meeting April 3, 1990) Recommendation: That approximately $6,000 be allocated from the 1990 Sewer Capital Budget for the purpose of upgrading the B.C. Tel lines to the alarm panel at No. 1 Firehall. Background and Comments: The B.C. Tel cable which carries alarm signals from the City's pumping Stations to the alarm panel at the No. 1 Fire Hall is at capacity. (In order to be able to add new stations to the alarm system, some upgrading is required. The City ls required to install a new conduit mast arm to B.C. Tel specifications before the new cables and associated splicing boxes etc. can be installed by B.C. Tel. We have received a quotation from Standard Electric in the amount of $1,000 for this work. B.C. Tel has quoted a price of $4,620 to carry out their end of the work. A small contingency will bring the cost of the work te $6,000. There are three pumping stations being constructed this year which will need to be connected to the alarm panel. These are located on Mary Hill Road, in the Chelsea subdivision, and in the Trenton Street industrial area. Without the above noted works, these stations could not be added to the alarm systen. The Public Works Committee recommends that the improvements be carried out as soon as possible. Copies of the quotations are attached for information. Cont'd /2...
