A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlam City Hall, 2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, B.C. on Monday, April 19th, 1993, at 7:30 p.m. Mayor L.M. Traboulay and Councillors M.D. Gates, M.J. Gordon, J.J. Keryluk, R.H. Talbot, and M.R. Wright were in attendance. Also ih attendance were City Administrator B.R. Kirk, City Clerk S. Rauh, City Engineer LR. Zahynacz, and Director of Planning C. Felip. YOUTH COUNCIL: Mayor Traboulay introduced the Youth Council Meeting Agenda and the following participants: Kevin Reagh, Mayor Aaron Collishaw, Parks & Rec Director Max Eblaghie, Councillor Aggie Dyndul, City Engineer Chris Shultz, Councillor Sharon Eblaghie, Planning Director Colleen Morris, Councillor Michelle Sanders, City Clerk Reagan Peachman, Councillor Adam Collishaw, City Administrator Clare Rodger, Councillor Jason Maitland, Councillor The Youth Council debated the following topics: PARKING ALONG ULSTER STREET AT PRAIRIF VENUE Concem was expressed that parking along both sides of Ulster Street, north of Prairie Avenue made passage in this area during school hours a safety issue. The Youth Council then passed a resolution that parking on Ulster Street, north of Prairie Avenue be restricted for one - block, on both sides. LEFT TURN FROM SHAUGHNESSY WEST ON TO LOUGHEED HIGHWAY Concem was expressed for the congestion caused on Shaughnessy Street particularly in regard to the left tum from Shaughnessy west on to the Lougheed Highway. A resolution was passed authorizing two left tum lanes onto the Lougheed Highway from Shaughnessy Street and that the traffic signals be adjusted to remain on for 15 seconds longer. CROSSWALK. ON PRAIRIE AVENUE AT TORONTO STREET Concem was expressed at the number of accidents that have occured at the crosswalk on Prairie Avenue at Toronto Street. A resolution was passed authorizing the installation of a crosswalk signal at this location. SKYTRAIN ACCESS The Youth Council debated the pro and con of a local Skytrain access and generally agreed that the Youth Council would like to see the Skytrain access available from Coquitlam.
