-2- the essential ingredients of a residential neighbourhood. We believe our draft proposal does this. In addition to making possible the benefits cited above a by-law would gain badly needed revenue for the City purse and legalize the activities now being carried on by hundreds if not thousands of our City's residents. The by-law follows. Proposed Zoning By-law Amendment 1. A Home Occupation shall involve no internal or external structural alterations to the principal building (dwelling) and there shall be no exterior indication that the building is being utilized for any purpose other than that of a dwelling and no building, structure, fence or enclosure other than those in conformity with permitted residential uses in the Zoning District in which it is located, may be erected, 2. The premises shall not produce noise, vibration, smoke, dust, odor, litter or heat other than that normally asscciated with a dwelling nor shall it create c~- cause fire hazard, electrical interference or traffic congestion on the street. 3. There shall be no external storage of materials, containers or finished product. 4. Only residents in the dwelling shall be employed in any such occupation. 5. One un-illuminated identification sign of a standard size of one foot by two feet would be permitted. 6. An accessory Home Occupation use: a) Except where it involves horticulture, shall be completely enclosed within a building for one family residential use or accessory residential use. b) Shall occupy less than 20% of the floor area on the site, not to exceed 500 square feet. c) Shall not include associated equipment and vehicles stored outside buildings. d) When the use involves care of children in a personal care use under the Community Care Facilities Licencing Act, the use shall conform with all regulations applicable to this use. 7. %In all cases, Home Occupation licence would be required and would be issued by the By-law Enforcement Officer.
