Bow! Throwing Competition Burnaby Empty Bowls Project

Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, 4430 Deer Lake Avenue, Bumaby

This event brings together 15 renowned,
community minded BC potters foraday of
fun, spirited competition, in support of
Burnaby’ s Food First Committee's Empty
Bowls Project. The bowls created will be
fired at the Shadbolt and decorated by five
hundred students amd seniors.

Later on Thursday, April 24, at a Gala
Fundraising event with the purchase of a
$45 ticket, you can buy one of these hand-
made bowls. At the event, you receive a
sampling of food prepared by some of
Burnaby’ s top restaurams, as well as par-
ticipate in live and silent auctions, wiew
displays and enjoy entertainment. For more

Potters. participating in the competition
include Wendy Berry, Robert Bush,
Rachelle Chinnery, Sarah Coote, Darrel
Hanceck, Boh Kingsmill, Sam Ewan,
Keith Lehman, David Lloyd, Gillian
McMillan, Darcy Margesson, Vincent

Massey, Darlene Nairne, Charmaine
Nimmo and Fredi Rahn. Throwing is at
10:00 wntil 11:30AM followed by a lunch
break and opening at Ceperley Howse,
featuring an exhibition of pieces, which
have been donated for the live auction at
the April 24 event, At 1:30PM, potters will
tam and finish their work, with judging
and prizes between 3200 and 4:00PM.

In addition, the day will feature displays
and activities, making i fun for the whole
family. Come down and cheer on your
favourite potter, rarely will you have the
Opportumity to see such tabent at work for
such a worthy cause. Admission is

2003 firings in Ombu kiln

Wood/soda firings in the Shadbolt Cen-
tre’s OMBU kiln are scheduled for the
following dates : March 7, May 30, July 18
and September 19, Generally, firings take
place Friday/Saturday with loading the
Saturday prior and unloading the follow-
ing Wednesday. Cost 1s $120 for a 6 cubic
foot space and may be purchased by an
individual ora group. For further informa-
