Klein has thé. unanimous en- dorsation of Copper Mountain Miners Union, Local 649 of the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers, of which he is an executive member, and at a meeting this week the local voted him $100 to start his campaign fund. Born in Horizon, Saskatchewan, 40-year old Joe Klein has been variously a logger at Kelowna, a miner at Osoyoos and again at Copper Mountain, a cafe operator at Osoyoos and a fruit and vege- table grower, also at Osoyoos, since he came to this province in 1934. Shoulder to shoulder the peo- ples of Canada, the Soviet Union and all the United Nations de- feated the terrible menace of the Berlin-Rome-Tokio fascist axis which sought to destroy all democ- racy and enslave the world. Today, there must be unity of all peace- loving people to compel peace in Korea, to bar the rearming of the German Nazis and Japanese mili- tarists, to bring the United Na- tions back to its charter which calls upon all nations to relieve the world of the scourge of war. Canada found out during the great test of the war against fascism that the So- viet Union was the mighty cham- pion of peace, democracy and humanity. The Canadian people are serious- ly menaced today, not by the Soviet ion, but by the rapaci- ous men of Wall Street who re- morselessly seek to hurl our youth into aggressive war in Korea and That is the meaning of - in Europe to fatten their profits, to bring the entire wor]d under the heel of American imperialism. This is the danger, this is the enemy that is destroying Canadian independence, racy! Friendship with the Soviet .
