THE CORPORATION OF THE U U N C L CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM JUL 12 1993 REPORT TO COUNCIL B.R. Kirk DATE: July 8, 1993 City Administrator I.R. Zahynacz, P. Eng., FILE: PWC City Engineer KINGSWAY ROAD RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT (Public Works Committee of July 6, 1993) RECOMMENDATION: That the City of Port Coquitlam proceed with the Kingsway Road Reconstruction project based on reconstructing Kingsway from the Coquitlam River Bridge to Bedford in 1993 and reconstructing Kingsway including the railway crossing from Bedford to Westwood in 1994. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: It was proposed to reconstruct Kingsway from the Coquitlam River to Westwood Street including the railway crossing in 1993 based on a project cost of $1,072,600 and based on a Provincial Grant of $536,300. Attached is a letter to Mayor and Council dated June 8, 1993 from Robyn Rlencoe, Minister of Municipal Affairs, Recreation and Housing, the Province approving a grant of $386,231. Also it has been determined that a portion of Maple Creek will not have to be enclosed with a twin 42 inch diameter storm sewer which will result in a savings of approximately $120,000. It is therefore proposed to reconstruct Kingsway from the Coquitlam River Bridge to Bedford rather than from the Coquitlam River Bridge to Westwood Street in 1993 at an estimated cost of $250,000 and complete the portion of Kingsway between Bedford and Westwood Street in 1994.
