THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO R. Kirk it Administrator FROM: Me. Chong, P. Eng. ty Enginesr SUBJECT: Drainage Problem at 3933 Coast Meridian Road RECOMMENDATION: That the City Engineer be authorized to spend approximately $2,500 from the 1988 Unallocated Public Works Capital Budget for the purpose of solving a drainage problem at 3933 Coast Meridian Road. BACKGROUND ANL COMMENTS: Small, the resident at 5933 Coast Meridian Road has contacted Alderman Gates recently in regards to a drainag problem in her backyard. This matter was reterred to the Engineering Department for study and report. Our investigations revealed that Mrs. Smal!'s backyard is some two feet lower than the adjoining property including the gravel lane. Because of this, surface run-off from the iane and other areas is ending up in Mrs. Smalt's back yard making if perpetually wet. A reasonable solution to solve this problem is to dig a small! ditch atong the rear of 3933 Coast Meridian Road and to install a lawn basin complete with a lead tying into the existing drainage system. An estimate for this work is $2,500. The Committee members are well acquainted with The field conditions and feel that the City has an obligatio n to solve this drainage proble sm. A recommendation is therefore forwarded to Council to approve the proposed drainage works 4 ~\ + TeM.
