COUNC NOV 26.1973 TO: Mayor and Council DATE: November 23, 1973 FROM: Recreation Committee RE: Ice Rink - Senior Citizens Complex As a result of the bids received for the construction of an ice rink and senior citizens facility the Architects have recommended acceptance of the bid of Radcliffe and Sons in the amount of $1,058,000. This places the total construction costs of all facilities including the contract of Rossi Construction for the swinming pool complex and the ice arena complex at a total of $2,223,600. With fees and City work on the site the total for the project will be in the neighbourhood of $2,400,000. at approximately $500,000. from our original estimates. Application has been made for an additional grant from the Recreation Facilities Fund in the amount of $333,000. An acknowledgement of this application is attached. In addition the Committee has made application to the Provincial Secretary's office for a $40,000. grant towards the senior citizens housing facility. Application for the grant has been acknowledged and it has been forwarded to their committee for approval. These grants, when approved, will help to offset increased construction costs. The Committee therefore recommends that the tender submitted by Radcliffe and Sons Construction offering to construct an ice skating arena and senior citizens facility in the City of Port Coquitlam for a net price of $1,058,000. be accepted and that the Mayor and the Clerk be authorized to execute the necessary construction contract referred to in the tender document and such other plans, documents or receipts as may be necessary therefor on behalf of the City and to fix the corporate seal thereto,
