Born in Strasbourg, France, ‘Mazerand discovered both the piano and fishing at age five. He trained classically into his teens but the piano then took backstage in favor of other interests. Mazerand played the piano . occasionally in piano bars and fished: the : seas, rivers and lakes of the world. — tis not a coincidence that he and his wife would settle in the Bulkley Valley, where he ° bought a Sauter Grand and resumed playing the piano with a vengeance. Still enjoying his classics, he neverthe- less increasingly listened to his inner voice and began to improvise, often while watch- ing the river flow by his studio’s window. “It is the river that inspires me,” he says. -Mazerand has a third album, Cheers, that: | was inspired by a visit to Okanagan wine country.
