SIMON FRASER UNION BOARD OF HEALTH 3937 Carnarvon Street New Westminster, B.C, V3L 1C2 Telephone: 525-3661 Fax: 525-0878 August 24, 1990 Simon Fraser Union Board of Health Members Dear Member, A review of 1989 statistics demonstrates a shortage of six Public Health Inspectors. Te respond effectively and on short notice to complaints, new development Proposals, and routine inspections, we need ten field inspectors plus the Chief Inspector. One PHI full time equivalent (FTE) was removed from the health unit in 1984, that FTE was restored in February 1990. Since then one other FTE has been added - hopefully that staff person will commence September 17, 1990. Nevertheless the health unit is still understaffed in the PHI progran. The health unit has established a priority list (copy attached), of which only the first five or six items will be achievable. The balance will be left undone and result in complaints about lack of service. The assistance of you and your council or school board to help the Simon Fraser Health Unit acquire the five other PHI staff will be appreciated, Yours truly LEC hig rp Alderman A.W.
