The arrangements with the provinces are in the

The suggestion to amend the existing legislation
by rewording the section pertaining to "Interruption of
Earnings" to "Soasonal Layoff or Termination of work

‘Cemployment)" has been noted and will be given careful
consideration,

Concerning the reference to holiday pay, the
suggestion is that benefit should be paid as soon as a
worker stops working, despite the fact that he may still
be receiving income. Studies have shown that this would
be much more costly than the present concept: which is
to provide income maintenance only when income ceases.
There have been representations from both employer and
employee Sroups concerning the treatment of monies pai.d
at the time of separation and the legislation is being
closely studied to ascertain whether it will be necessary

to make any modification tu the regulations in this
respect.
