‘Page 2. January 6, 1989 . The City of Port Coquitlam The street Is not very wide and the drivers of the vehicles often have to back up two or three times in order to turn around to get out from tne street. The drivers also use _ the driveways of property owners residing on this street in order to turn around and get back out from the street. One Incident which occurred on December 2, 1988 and was witnessed by Carolyn Hoare and severa! other persons on the schoo! grounds at 8:50 a.m., which events are as follows: "Several cars had driven down Salisbury Street to let off thelr children and there was quite a chaos at the end where they can go no further and they must try and back up In between cars and children walking. A garbage truck also came down the street to attend to pick up of garbage on Salisbury Avenue’ but could not get through due to the cars blocking him at the end of the street by the schoo! ground. A woman driving a car panicked when she saw the truck and started backing wp and almost hit one of the day children of Mrs. Hoare. This Incldent caused quite an uproar for all the parents watching and the driver of the truck was quite upset about ' this Incident ‘as it delayed his schedule. Mrs. Hoare then proceeded to Mr. McNamee’s office, called the police about her concerns and also called the School Trustee and City Hall about the truck driver, witnout any success from any of the aforementioned persons. We have had several further conversations since the incident referred to above with Mr. MacNamee who has in turn telephoned the police, however, we have not yet seen the police patrol the drop off and pick up on the aforementioned street. We have also had a conversation with Pattie Brown who resided at 1945 Salisbury Avenue for two years, however, she has now chosen to move from this street. Mrs. Brown has Informed us that she has... made several complaints to Viscount Alexander School, City Hall and the police without success. We enclose herewith a copy of a letter written by Mrs. Brown to City Hall dated January 30, 1986 (letter de!ivered to the City of . Port Coquitiam was a typed fetter In the same form as the handwritten letter attached and was malled during the week of February 17, 1986) wherein she expresses her concerns with respect to the persons driving down this street In order to let off or pick up thelr chlidren by the school grounds.
