May 5th, 1975 development and the proposed project. Mr. Birtwell stated he had met with Mr. Wheatley several times; however, the landscape architect was of the opinion that a 3" fence and some 5' fence surrounding the property would be adequate to define the boundaries between the two projects. The City Planner stated he felt a 6' fence would be desirable in providing privacy to Woodside Estates and Alderman Laking suggested a 5' or 6! chain link fence should be constructed; however, Mr. Birtwell stated that as he was not sure whether a chain link fence would fit in with the architects of the scheme he would like the eption of checking this item out further. Another resident of Woodside Estates pointed out that some of the units will only be about 30' from the property line between the two developments, and he stated he felt a higher fence would divide them better. Upon inquiring whether there was anyone present who opposed the project, Acting~Mayor Alderman Thompson received no response. Alderman Traboulay inquired when construction of the project would start, and Mr. Birtwell advised that it is expected tu start installing the services either during the last week in May or the first of June. Alderman Traboulay inquired whether Mr. Birtwell foresees any problems with traffic, and Mr. Birtwell advised that he did not in view of the upgrading of Coast Meridian Road, which costs will be borne by the G.V.R.D., and Alderman Mabbett commented that the Coast Meridian Road- Prairie Avenue intersection would be squared-up when additional property is acquired in front of the Home Service Station. Mr. Lou Robinson inquired what arrangements have been made for garbage pick-up at the project, and Mr. Birtwell advised that arrangements will be made for containerized pick-up which the G.V.R.D. will contract out. Mr. John Platt inquired as to the proposed addition to Birchland School, and Acting-Mayor Alderman Thompson advised that $195,000.00 has been allocated by the School Board for the addition, and that assurances have been received from both the School Board and Mr. Wm. Casson, Director of Housing, G.V.R.D., that the project will not begin unless adequate schooling is provided. Mr. Platt inquired if that meant the units would not be occupied until the school is ready and Acting-Mayor Alderman Thompson replied that on the premise of the project going ahead, the addition to Birchland School has been put to tender.
