The TV screens: highlight the drama. The patient, hero- ‘ic struggle-.of the people: be= hind the drama. is’ missed by. the cameras, The stark: trag- edy of daily existence; over- flowing prisons, torture: and death is' hidden by the world press. But as country after country emerges:from the col- onial yoke, the full extent of the people’s suffering and courage comes to light. For the women and children life is a heavy burden. In the shadow of vast wealth of white rulers, native families live in poverty and fear. Wom- en bear children, work in the fields, mines or rice paddies, and shoulder arms as_ well.
