Hospice helps terminally ill

A hospice program can: help

it possible for the terminally ill

loved ones ina familiar setting,

Over © the past several years
hospice programs have been in-
troduced in many communities
throughout the province.

Hospice is to coordinating the
needs of the terminally ill person
and their families by providing
specially selected and trained
hospice visitors, Tesource
materials, and public education.

Hospice isa free communily |

resource which offers support to
patients, family and friends
throughout the last stage o£ ill-
ness, at the time of death, and
during bereavement. Hospice
focuses on helping people under-
stand and manage their situation
when a family member is serious-
yi ill or dying.

guidance and direction of the
Hospice Coordinator. Their role
with each clicat will vary depend-
ing on individual and family
needs. Some examples of how
volunteers can help are:
