council of this Surrey village

needed a public lavatory.
And now, 52 years later, it.
looks as if the moment of |
relief has arrived.
The old fire station, leased
-to the parish for 99 years at
£50 ($90) a year by the lady
of the manor, Handa Bray,

desperate for a public’
convenience because so
many of the tourists who
flock to picturesque Shere.

knocking on front doors
asking to use the loo.
“Parties of schoolchildren :
often come here to look at a.

when you get over 100 boys
and girls with nowhere to

spend a penny there are
terrible problems,’’ said
Mrs. Bray.
