need for further Study of this relocation option. One of the

elements which needs to be identified is the type of foundation

which would be required and this requires a geotechnical

investigation, In checking with A.E.S.L., they suggest an

allowance of about $4,000 for a geotechnical investigation and

$3,000 for the study and report Similar to the report on the

Kingsway Bridge. The Committee recommends that We proceed

. immediately With this further study at an approximate cost of
' $7,000,

The obvious question which was not addressed by the

Public Works Committee is the method of Paying for the works
Proposed. It obviously is fo our advantage to attempt to get
possibte Provincial grant. Since the Kingsway

Is part of the approved arterial network for the City, it

was felt that there wouid be less difficulty in getting a grant
for the Kingsway construction than for the Pitt River Road
Bridge which ji not on the approved network, That is the
reason for applying for a grant for the fulf amount of the
Kingsway Bridge and using the insuranee Proceejs for the
relocation to the Red Bridge site. '# a full grant ‘is not
availabie then other methods of financing must be found and
these will be the subject of. a report from the Finance

Committee.
