‘Purchase of New Garbage Packer

The 1979 Budget includes the sum of $60,000.00 for
ge packer with a new one.

Four tenders were received for the garbage packer
with a difference of only $222.00 separating the two lowest
tenders. We recommend the purchase of the second lowest tender,
a Dempster, from International Harvester for a total purchase
price of $20,872.80 including tax. We recommend the Dempster
over the Heil for the following reasons:

1. The Dempster hopper is five inches lower and
therefore makes for easier lifting.

The Dempster hopper is also larger,

3. The Dempster has a higher campaction ratio and
therefore can carry more garbage.

4. The Dempster hydraulic cylinders are larger.
5. The Dempster body is somewhat stronger.

We have had a Dempster for the last three and a half
years and have found it to be superior to the Heil,

In summary, we recommend purchase of both the truck
and packer from International Harvester at a total price of
$53,771.71 which is well under the budgeted amount.
