CALEDONIA’S SENIOR girls’ basketball team is down al the AAA Provincial Championships in Vancouver today to play B.C.’s best. The girls’ first game starts at 10:15 a.m. today aud it will be a tough one. The Kermodes are up against Salmon Arm, currently ranked number one in the province, ‘It’s going to be hard on our girls,’? says coach Jorge Silva, ‘‘Salmon-Arm’s a. real. tough team..They’ve. been . ranked in the top three pretty much all season.” Silva says Cal is playing well, but it’s bard to judge how well they will fare agains! such a power squad, “We haven't had a chance to play many really good teams this season ,’* he says, ‘‘It’s going to be a real chal- lenge for them.”’ High calibre hockey HOCKEY FANS should get a treat March 20-22 when Terrace hosts a Proviscial Juvenile Division hockey tournament. The division is fairly new to the league, but with an age Limit of up to 20 years it should be some exciting hockey. The club had been in operation for 40 years, and organizers are hoping the residents of Kitimat and visitors to the area might have some photos of the old building, which hosted many weddings and parties over the years. The photographs will be used to decorate the walls of the new clubhouse, which is in the planning slage. More than 100 competitors turned out for the event, and several Terrace skiers fared well, Al Evenchick placed third in the men’s 40k race with a time of 2:29:28, just three minutes back of the winner, Richard Harrison. Chery! Brown was first in the women’s 40k event, cross- ing the line al 3:50:42, Gamet Walson finished 20k at 1:34:42 and Bernadette Saxon hit the 20k mark at 2:02:09. In the girls’ category, locals Rhonda Freeman and Liza Vandevelde finished 10k at 1:23:42 and 1:23:38 respec- tively, Seniors games meeting THERE WILL be a general meeting this Saturday for all those interested in getting involved wilh Zone 10 at the BC Seniors Games.
