SWING AND A MISS: Many pifata pummelers got to strike-
three-you’re-out against the elusive papier-mache candy
nolders two weekends aga. it was without a doubt the most.
entertaining part of the Terrace and District Multicultural As-
sociation’s International Potluck Dinner. One. particularly
hardy pifiata survived multitudinous strikes and seemed
poised to withstand anything short of a nuclear airblast. A few
well-placed cuts made it a little more vulnerable.

WINNING THE BIG PRIZE!

Terrace’s Robert Brewerton’s latest birthday brought him the big
bucks.

The 57-year-old bartender is $50,000 richer after matching five
regular numbers plus the bonus number on his Feb. 27th BC/49 lot-
tery ticket.

“Tt was the day before my birthday, > he recalls, “T was on my
way to work.and I decided 'to turn in my $20 win from Wednes-
day’s draw. ‘also got a few extra tickets for my birthday. I had sort
of a lucky fecling about purchasing the tickets that day.”’

The next night he watched the draw on television and realized
he’d matched five numbers plus the bonus number...

He plans to use the money to make his retirement easier.
