December 17, 1993 Jeff Yip, P.Eng. City of Port Coquitlam . -3- In addition a plan of infilling of the East Slough would be obtained from the City. It is understood the School Board have infilled certain portions of the channel and further infilling may be proposed. These changes to the channel storage may significantly impact on the required pump capacity as any reduction in storage reduces the potential for the channel to attenuate peak flows. Further meetings would be held with the City at- intervals throughout the project to ensure the design is progressing in accordance with the City’s requirements. It is anticipated design review meetings would be held following preparation of preliminary design drawings and cost estimates and prior to the finalization of the detailed design. Review Data and Revise Drainage Model The information collected from the City will be reviewed in detail by the project team including our water resource engineers.“ The Microcomputer Interactive Design of Urban Storm Water Systems (MIDUSS) computer model will then be updated to reflect the current plans for development and the slough. The model would be rerun and a series of pump station alternatives evaluated. Based on the results of the computer model, a pump station size will be selected. which provides reasonable protection against flooding and .. maximizes the storage opportunity within the East Slough. “ 4 By utilizing the storage within the East Slough, it is possible to reduce the pump station size which in turn keeps capital costs and operating . costs to a minimum. ~ ASSOCIATED ENGINEERING
