Approximately $30,000 was placed in the budget being Port Coquititam's share towards the improvement of the Kingsway/ Westwood intersection. Work on this important intersection is contingent on the District of Coquitlam also approving funds for this project. Unfortunately, funds were not forthcoming from the District again this year; however, it is understood that they will be putting monies into thelr 1985 budget and we shal carry over the previously approved funds Into the 1985 budget. Approximateiy $140,000 worth of Capital Water Projects were approved for construction which consisted mainly of instaliing watermains to improve existing services. Much excellent progress has been made by our Project Engineer, Mr. Ng, P. Eng., in developing the City's water, sanitary and drainage computer modets and a $15,000 expenditure was approved for the purchase of flow measurement and racording equipment to verify the models. The Maintenance Management System (MMS) being developed within the Engineering Department has proven to be very useful when developing the Annua! Budget and setting levels of service -- it is hoped that this tool will again prove itself when setting the 1935 budget. Tne Energy House This may be the last complete year of operation that wa shall see of this joint project; it is expected that Federal Government Funds will not be available after March, 1985. This project has provided the community at large with a great deal of information on matters of energy conservation due to the hard work of Yvonne Kerr and her staff. Tne City of Port Coquititam will have to deal with the question of what to do with the house in the near future. Emergency Measures The Emergency Measures Coordinator, Doug Madden, has taken his duties most seriously and has kept the Committee informed of his progress towards putting in place a good Emergency Plan for the City of Port Coquitiam as well as a disaster exercise set for 1985.
