November 15, 1982 Alderman Mike Gates Downtown Revitalization Committee Port Coquitlam City Hail 2272 McAllister Avenue Port Coquitlam, B.C. Dear Mr. Gates: On behalf of the Study Team I wish to submit this study detailing a revitalization framework for Port Coquitlam's Downtown core. The study sets out a framework for revitalization directed towards resolving the issues and problems facing the Downtown core. This framework has been formulated after careful analysis and extensive discussions with Downtown merchants. It approaches revitalization as an ongoing rather than one shot activity and, focusing on taking advantage of and developing opportunities, provides the necessary direction to get things moving. We wish to acknowledge the interest and co-operation of the Downtown Revitalization Committee, Downtown merchants and City Council and staff in preparing this study. Our special thanks to Alderman Mike Gates, George Specht, Wilf Renner, Bert Radigruber, Bert Prueffer, City Planner Bill Brown and City Clerk Ron Freeman. Their input and assistance has been invaluable. With this study in place we have conciuded the first part of the Study Team's responsibilities with regard to Port Coquitiam's Revitalization program. The team and myself are standing by to continue discussions and to clarify any points arising from this Study. Yours sincerely, WILLIS, CUNLIFFE, TAIT/DeLCan Patti Rao, M.R.A.LC., M.C.LP.
