November 10th, 1980 advising of the 2nd Annual Cities Energy Conference to be
held at Winnipeg's Civic Centre January 28th, 29th and 30th, 1981, be

received.

Alderman Muldoon advised she would be interested in attending this conference.
Mayor Laking advised further information should be received in the near
future on thir conference.

That the letter from Mr. D. Vater, December l2th, 19380 asking Council

to consider a non-smoking section In the Counell Chambers, be received,

Alderman Mabbett voted apainsr the resolution,

Alderman Muldoon stated in her optnion Mr. Vater should be piven permission
to speak to Council and it was agreed by the Counedl that Mr. Vater be
permitted to speak. Mr. Vater then addressed the Council expressing his
concerns regarding smoking In che Chambers and asked that Couneil consider

having a non-smoking section In the Chamber. Mr. Vater advised of the

survey he had carried out in other municipalities regarding smoking in

the Chamber.
