= COUNC TO Mayor and Council March 30th, 1978 APR 3 1978 FROM: Environmental Protection Committee Re: Mosquito Control Programme We have had a request from the Vector Control Officer and Beak Consultants to have Council pass the usual resolution waiving Department of Transport Air Regulations to permit aerial spray for mosquito control. Council will recall that we pass this resolution annually to have it on record in the event spraying becomes necessary. The policy of Council has been to use aerial spray only when necessary and only for larviciding. No aerial larviciding was required during 1977 in view of the effective ground control programme. The Committee recommends that the resolution required by the Canadian Air Transport Administration be passed and placed on file for the 1978 calendar year. “Notwithstanding the hazard of low-flying aircraft over the Municipality for the purpose of mosquito control, we wish to apply for a waiver of Section 529, Paragraph A and B, of the Ministry of Transport Air Regulations."
