Carried. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Ranger queried the payment of $447.90 for car rental to Metro Rent~A-Cat as listed under No. 04965 in the September 2nd, 1976 Statement of Accounts, and the City Administrator advised he would check into this item. Alderman Mabbett referred to No. 04962 in the same listing, being payment of $62.79 to Kits Cameras Ltd., and suggested that the newly-established local camera shop should receive some consideration when ordering supplies in the future. Ald. Ranger re Housing Committee From Alderman P,F. Ranger, September 9th, 1976, setting forth a resolution concerning the Housing Committee. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Thompson: WHEREAS Council has been attempting to stimulate the production of affordable housing in Port Coquitlam for the past few years; AND WHEREAS the Housing Committee that was struck last year brought forth some ideas that have not been implemented to date; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Housing Committee be reactivated and, along with the elected representatives on the Committee, a few local builders and one real estate representative be appointed to the Defeated. Alderman Ranger voted in favour of the resolution. Committee. Prior to defeat of the foregoing resolution, a discussion ensued and Mayor Campbell advised that a new Housing Committee had previously been appointed. Alderman Mabbett then gave a brief outline of the work the Committee has been engaged in to date, specifically with respect to the development of the Tayior-Marshall area. Alderman Ranger stated he was not aware the Committee had been re-struck, and that he felt a tew local builders and real estate people should be included in order to obtain greater scope on affordable housing as to interest rates, financing, servicing, etc. Plan.& Zon.
