“974 the. following recomendations to improve pedestrian safety within the

“Leigh Hlenentary School area, “be approved :

(1) That. a school crosswalk be established across Coast Meridian Road coin-

-cideut with the. North side of Lynwood necessitating the construction of :a

short stretch of sidewalk on the West side of Coast Meridian Road from .

Greenmount South at a cost of approximately $500.00;

“(2) ‘That a school crosswalk be established across the East-West portion of

“ “Vietoria Drive coincident with the East side of Toronto. Carried.

“Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, Alderman Traboulay in-
quired whether or ‘not the Committee had approached either the School Princ-

ipal ‘Or the School Board with respect ‘to having the ‘proposed crosswalks pat-

“yolled. Alderman Thonpson commented that the traffic in that area is not

“quite as acute as in others, and Alderman Keryluk pointed out that both the

proposed crosswalks are not actually in the immediate vicinity of the: School.
Alderman Traboulay stated his belief that last year it was agreed to place a

crosswalk on Lincoln Avenue at the Cedar Drive bridge and inquired why this

“has not been installed and posted as yet. Alderman Thompson advised this

has been delayed because of rain; however, it will be installed as soon as

. weather permits, and he pointed out that crosswalks are marked by cross-_

: hatching, which, is not quite the same as painting a single line or a curb.
