THE POTTERS GUILD OF SRITISH COLUMSIA ISSN 0319-812X 315 West Cordova Street, Vancouver, 8.C. V6B 1E5 NEWSLETTER a February 1976 Dear Potters, How time flies - seems like we just sent out the last newsletter and . here it is that time again. It was very gratifying to see so many of you at the last meeting. Many thanks to Hiro Urakami for his excellent lecture. I've always suspected that glazing is the number one problem with many potters, so hope you all got some help. Hiro told me that he couldn't sleep that night thinking of so many things he could have told us. This show of interest seems to indicate that it istime we had a workshop onoglazing, perhaps a weekin length so we could get into it more thoroughly. GENERAL MEETING: February 18 at & p.m. in the Fireside Room at the Unitarian Church, 49 and Cak St. PROGRAM: A panel discussion on kiln building with David Lambert as chairman. Also onthe panel will be Don Hutchinson, Stan Clarke, Walter Dexter, Ruth Meechan and Mark Lawrence. If you are planning to build a kiln, or are having problems with one you are using, the combined know- how and experience of this group should be a great help. LIBRARY: Many of our library books are overdue. Please bring them to the general meeting or mail them to Frances Fraser, 3416 Capilano Rd. North Vancouver, V7R 405. Several new books have been ordered and should be available soon. TRAVELLING SHOW: The 1975 travelling show has been so enthusiastically received that the present itinerary will keep it on the road for many months. Because those at the end of the line would have such a long wait we have decided to assemble a show of functional pottery which will travel around the circuit in the opposite direction. The Guild has allocated $500.00 to buy these pots and again this has been put in the capable hands of Marie Claire von Hausmann. She will be looking for truly functional pots of excellent quatity. We hope this show wil 1 be ready by April. JURIED SHOWS: Entry forms for our 8.C. Ceramics '76 are going out with this mailing. NATIONAL CERAMICS EXHIBITION in Calgary, Alberta, Sept.30-Nov.7, 1976.
