were presented with a fireplace
set by the housewarming guests,
Mrs. Sylvia Preston was in
charge of arranging the event,

Kitimat reeve credits CBC
for library book demand
Kitimat reeva Sam Lindsay gave the CBC dubious credit
for an upsurge in reading by his citizens,

He blamed the curzent quality of CBC TV programs,
“Td much rather read a book than watch some of those

programs,”’ he said.

t But at the same time he vetoed a move to give the Kitimat
Library board an additional $500 to buy more books, -

Beta Zetas hold
pledges ceremony

The banquet room of‘ the
Lakelse Motor Hotel was re-
cently the scene of the fall re-
ception and rituals of Beta Zeta
Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.

The pledge ritual which is the
formal initiation of new mem-
bers and the ritual of jewels which
is the ceremony conferring the
next higher degree in the sor=
crity was conducted by Mrs, W,
A, Batter, Mrs. S. Slater and
Mrs. R, E. Mason, Mrs, L, Lis-
sner also assisted with the ritual
of jewels, ©

Following the rituals a soclal
hour was held, Mrs. H, Onstein
proposed the toast to the pledges
