and they intend to make it.

One Russian city is already establish-

ing central heating by a small atomic pile.

These disclosures—’'top news ¢ which

adian daily press—were made by Dr. J. G.
Endicott ,chairman of the Canadian Peace
Congress, at a “Ban the Bomb” rally here

Cities throughout the world mil-
lions of people demonstrated on §
World Peace Day, October 2.
Thousands of Londoners saw
Mollie Eason, 27-year-old British
ex-service woman, place a dove
of peace on the Cenotaph. The
dove carried the inscription:
“The battle for peace is the
battle for life.” In Hyde Park,
Konni Zilliacus, MP, addressed
a huge crowd, which later form-
ed itself into a parade through
London streets.. Veterans car-
ried a banner; reading: “The
United. Nations. is. our. peace
charter. End the Atlantic pact.

atomic energy, and they're going to put it
to use, so the myth about American mon-
opoly of atomic energy is exploded once
and for all,’” Endicott declared.

There are four or five top - ranking
Chinese scientists who know how to make
atomic energy, and they’re going to make
it. There are vast resources of rich uran-
ium in Northwest China. The so-called
backward Chinese will make large-scale
use of atomic energy for human welfare
long before we do because we are making
the bomb.” \

Referring to President Truman’s state-

ment about an atomic blast in the Soviet

‘Union, Endicott stated flatly:

“| knew that Russia had produced this
atomic explosion last April. | The explo-
sion was not a bomb. It was a carefully
controlled scientific experiment conducted
in a narrow valley which was loaded with
various metals in order to determine the
effects of the blast.”

Then Endicott revealed that ‘’one Rus-
sian city is establishing central heating by
a small atomic pile.
