Carried. Ald. Keryluk-report Alderman Keryluk reported, for information, on his attendance at "on Trustees’ Confer- ‘ h the Trustees’ Conference of the B.C. Library Association, and advised yvary Ass'n.,etc. that the Trustees have made moves to separate from the local Librarians Association, necessitated largely by funding demands. Alderman Keryluk then referred to a letter from Mr. H. Overend, Director of the Fraser Valley Regional Library addressed to the City Administrator, which F states in part: "It would seem clear that the Commission has no funds Se for equipment grants this year. There may be something to report as an outcome of the Commission meeting on May 13th and if su I shall so advise." Alderman Keryluk also referred to a letter to Mr. Overend from i Mr. Davidson, who is a Director of the Library Development Commission, * regarding a meeting of the Commission with the Provincial Secretary, at which time she explained that the Government's commitment to the people j of the Province is to balance the economy and one of the necessities will be to restrain expenditures during at least the current fiscal year. Alderman Keryluk further advised that a special L.D.C. consultant has been appointed to the Fraser Valley Regional Library, Ms. Alice Simpson, for the purpose of re-organizing the system with a view to acquiring additional grants; however, there will be no additional financing : ! in the current fiscal year. Alderman Traboulay expressed concern that the City would not now be receiving the $90,000.00 grant applied for to furnish the new library facility being leased from Horner Developments Ltd., and inquired as to whether the City would also be losing the $13,500.00 grant mentioned by Alderman Ranger at the recently~held
