THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM QUNC NOV 8 1982 Mayor and Council November 2nd, 1982. Alderman G.R. Laking, Chairman Alderman M.D. Gates Alderman A.K. Muldoon SUBJECT: Committee Set-up to look at Grants, to make recommendations to P.C.A.A.A, After a great deal of study we recommend the grant should continue for the minor sports to P.C.A.A.A. The reasons being that no doubt a number of. sports would be in a very, very difficult financial position. The other it would restrict greatly their ability to function properly. In reviewing this it has been suggested that a review be made of persons who live outside the City limits but receive the $6.00 grant. The Corstitution of P.C.A.A.A. allows for 3% of the sport to come from outside Port Coquitlam, also at the same time it was suggested that there be a review of the age limits in the: City's Policy of Grants to P.C.A.A.A. It was questioned whether the residents should se paying for anyone over the age limits set by the City which is 18, also whether the residents should be paying the grant for persons who live outside the City limits. These things should be reviewed with consultation . with P.C-A.A.A. To improve liaison between the Recreation and P.C.A.A.A. we recommend the following: (a) That P.C.A.A.A. appoint a member of the executive to sit in on the allocation of fields and other facilities so that the executive becomes totally aware of what is taking place during the allocation of the City facilities. Make a copy of the Council agenda available to P.C.A.A.A. to be picked up on Friday afternoon. Suggest that P.C.A.A.A. present briefs to Council whenever they feel there is a need for increase in fields or other recreation facilities and that they also present backup information at the same time. Suggest that P.C.A.A.A. review and upgrade the Constitution and Bylaws and endeavour to adhere to them. P.C.A.A.A. be consulted when fields or other sports facilities are being considered so that the fields and other facilities meet the requirements of the minor sports. Also this will make them very aware of the expenditures, and the City should utilize the excellent knowledge available through P.C.A.A.A.
