February 16th, 1976 commemorate Heritage Day, and was particularly pleased to note in the letter that the Canadiana area would be stocked not only with books of all kinds by Canadian authors, but that it would also have a small separate area for the works and writings of local residents such as old photographs suitably refinished and framed, works of art, and literary works, Mr. Bud Dorfman, President of the Kinsmen Club of Port Coquitlam, then presented a cheque in the amount of $2,000.00 to cover the initial expenses of the project, to Mayor Campbell, who expressed appreciation on behalf of the citizens of Port Coquitlam. Mr. Dorfman commented that Heritage Day will be a National Holiday on the third Monday of every February - to promote the birth of the Canadian Flag - and he pointed out that the Kinsmen are spearheading this Day. REPORTS: From Mayor J.M. Campbell, February 12th, 1976, reporting on his attendance at the February llth, 1976 Regional Hospital and Regional District meetings. Alderman Traboulay referred to the second paragraph of the report concerning the proposed Coquitlam Hospital and in answer to his query, Mayor Campbell stated his understanding that the project would be started in 1976 with completion in 1977. Alderman Mabbett commented that the Coquitlam Hospital Society is desperately in need of members and he suggested that members of Council and citizens of the City obtain memberships in the Society at a cost of $2.00 per person. Mayor Campbell then referred to his memorandum to members of Council wherein he had requested the submission of nominations to the Hospital Board and he advised that there are two vacancies to be filled thereon. Alderman Ranger observed that the Annual General Meeting of the Hospital Society will be held i. . _verview on March 18th, 1976, and to his query on the reason the hospital in Delta is now under constructiion when it was lower in priority than the hospital proposed for the Coquitlam area, Mayor Campbell stated his understanding that the hospital in Delta is more of the small local type - not nearly as expensive as the one planned for Coquitlam.
