REF: Fee Schedule for Applications for Rezonings and Land Use Contracts

4. recent survey of fees charged by Municipalities in the Greater Vancouver
Area for the processing of applications for Rezonings and Land Use Contracts
. reveals that our present fee schedule is among the lowest except Richmond,

which has not yet imposed a fee. Richmond, however, is in the process of

passing a by-law which will authorize Council to impose a fee effective

‘January 1, 1975. A summary of the schedules of Municipalities in Greater

Vancouver Area is attached for your information and comparison.

The fee presently charged by Port Coquitlam is $1.00 for each 1000 square
feet with a minimum charge of $50.00 for both Rezonings and Land Use Contracts.

According to our City Clerk, the fee charged based on our present achedule: is
mot even sufficient, in most cases, to cover the costs of newspaper advertising
and mailing of notifications for the public hearing, let alone offsetting the
coste of lagal services and staff's time in handling these applications.

Tf to minimize subsidizing by Municipal funds is desired, a more equatible
fee schedule ia necessary. A vevised schedule is therefore proposed as follows
for your consideration. :

$2.00 for each 1000 square feet with a minimum charge of $100.00 for the first 50 000%.

$100.00 for newspaper advertising and mailing (refundable if public hearing not held).
