Losier, Robin, Mandie repeat The field was bigger than ever but Robin and Mandie still couldn’t be topped in this year’s Heavy Horse Pull at the Fall Pair. Roger Losier’s team hauled 5,307 Ibs., nearly a ton more than their own weight, to win the event for the second straight year. Having to settle for the Glen Kerr and his team of Guy and Sabre. Their best pull was 5,057 lbs., 1,514 Jbs. more. than that difference which de- cides the placings in the event. Third place went to Mark Storey with Sonny and Dan (plus 1,318 Ibs.) while Losier’s second team of Crystal and Jennifer fin- ished in fourth. In the fifth and final money spot were Major and ‘Tunner-up spot again was — their combined weight. It’s Charlie Houlden’s vt duo. The low placing this year for the previous two-time winners was the result of a disqualification. Surprisingly, Major and May failed to retain a straight line on the 4,746 Ib. pull and stepped out of bounds, This was the fourth year that the event has been held at the fair and the trend of increased entries was Maintained once again. Noting the 10-team entry this year was casily the highest yei, Leo DeJong said that had allowed prize money to be given out down to fifth this time. He also extended thanks to the various local sponsors who had put up the $3,000 in prizes.
